Good Indonesian food @ a home restaurant

Date: 12-06-2015
(Added: 12-06-2015)

When we went to Yeh Pulu Bedulu ( an ancient hindu wall in Bali) we went to this at home restaurant nearby. It is situated in this beautiful, quiet, peaceful area. While eating there, they were preparing food offerings to the hindu gods for a celebration at this wall. They carry these big bowls with fruit offering on their heads, while the environment is very uneven. Respect to that! We had some lovely Indonesian food and some Bintang beers. A nice place to hang out and eat some good Fu Yong Hai and Springrolls.

The fairytale-ish: Pura Ulun Danu Bratan- Bedugul, Bali

Because we wanted to leave the crowdy areas in Bali, we decided to go to Bedugul. This is a village in the north with 3 lakes and mountains. But especially known for the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan. We were in Bedugul for 3 days and were very lucky with the weather when we visited this beautiful temple. The other 2 days it was foddy, rainy and cloudy. But the day we took this picture is was bright, with a little clouds, which made it even more beautiful. It felt peaceful, was extremely beautiful with all the colors in contrast with the lake, clouds and mountains . Next to that, this area is colder than the rest of Bali. Which is good for a pinguin like me :)

(Added: 12-06-2015)

Because the weatherforecast said it would be cloudy, with a little rain, we desided to go biking around Ubud Bali. One of the things we would love to visit was Goa Gajah, the Elephant Cave temple. Normally we would love clear bright skies and a lot of sun. But while cycling it was so hot! Gladly the Goa Gajah, small as it is, was worth the heat and we loved it.

At beautiful Ijen Crater!

We took a lovely, steep walk to the Ijen crater. When we arrived at the top to see the crater, it was foggy and it turned raining really bad. Gladly we had some proper rainclothing with us and we desided to wait. After 15 minutes the fog turned away so we could take pictures at this beautiful vulcano, after this beautiful walk.

Because the sunset viewing was to crowded, I took a picture near the stairs to the crater. Unfortunately there was to much sulpher smoke to look into the crater. We hardly couldn't breathe.

Gunung Bromo

(Added: 26-05-2014)

Gunung Bromo is a very active vulcano in East Java. It's 2.329 meters high and part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Gunung is the indonesian word for mountain and Bromo comes form Brahma, the hinduistic god.

We stayed in the village Cemoro Lawang, walked to Mount Bromo at night and had a wonderful sunrise on the peak. As you can see on the photo, I was a little bit scared, because I never saw, heared or smelled a vulcano before.

Borobudur

(Added: 05-12-2014)

Borobudur is a huge Buddhist Temple in Central Java, Indonesia. It was build in the 9th century. The building consists of six square platforms topped by thre circular platforms and a huge main dome. It's the world's largest Buddhist temple and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We been there twice. First for sunrise and later the same day for the Vesak celebration. Buddhists in Indonesia and from all over Asia travel to Borobudur once a year to celebrate Buddha's birthday, enlightenment and death.

The pics are from early morning. You can see, that I had not enough sleep, because I had to get up at 4 a.m.  But it was worth all the efforts. Sunrise at Borobudur is a great experience.
